As this is the first watercolor artwork of the artist, he finds it a complicated medium. While still new using this medium, he is aware he still needs a lot to learn from its techniques. His experimentation, and trial & error on executing this still life is challenging for him. He loves that the fruits would pop out against the colorful checkered tablecloth. Emphasizing the play of shadows and light (chiaroscuro technique), as well as the shapes of the objects- the circular shape of the citrus juxtaposed with the squares of the cloth- the objects are laid out in a triangular composition against the diagonally oriented cloth to produce a three-dimensional appearance of the painting.
