David Farina

About

‘David Farina’ is a Surinamese painter who focuses on creating portraits that highlight the strength and beauty of Afro women. He paints mostly realistic, but occasionally creates abstract paintings. He received his degree at the Academy of Higher Art in May 2023. In daily life, he is a drawing teacher at a Voj school. From an early age, he discovered a passion for the craft of drawing. ‘As an academic, he further developed naturalistic and realistic techniques, which enables him to create interesting portraits.’ His work combines detailed realism with soft, organic touches, often focusing on the strength and complexity of Afro women. David exhibited his work at this year's 155 Years of Justice in Suriname and ‘Young Suriname Artist’ expo. There, he exhibited realistic and abstract paintings. ‘With his work, David wants to contribute to the celebration of diversity and inner strength, by creating portraits that touch and connect people.'
